Outreach is a Valued Commitment

Outreach is a valued commitment of ours. We have an ongoing relationship with Manatee Elementary School providing sweatshirts for every child each December along with school supplies each summer. Other outreach expressions of our church include our thrift store, 10th Avenue Thrift, a growing relationship with the North River Care Pregnancy Center, the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project and assisting the local homeless community with food and clothing. We also reach out through seminars and workshops such as our Surviving the Holidays Grief Recovery workshop offered every November and our Keeping Your Brain Young and Healthy seminars held at various times.

Our Thrift store is now open!!

Our thrift store is now open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 12-3 PM.

  • Temperature taken at the door

  • Masks worn properly are mandatory.

  • Social distancing to be observed while shopping.

  • You can use credit and debit cards or cash.

Our thrift store volunteers will be wearing masks and face shields. Masks will be available for shoppers, if needed, but we prefer people bring wear own.

Feeding Our Homeless Neighbors

Every month we prepare over 50 meals for our homeless neighbors in 2 locations.. Thank you to all who donate food and funds along with those who prepare and deliver the meals each week.

If you would like to help in some way (financially or otherwise) please contact Joan Bryden for more information at: outreach@ppcfl.org

Our Christmas Outreach Ministry is Here!

The time of year when we reach out to an elementary school to make sure every child in need has a sweatshirt for the colder winter months is upon us. This year we are returning to the school where this outreach began – Tillman Elementary here in Palmetto. The school has shared with me they need 400 sweatshirts this year. Part one of the order has been placed. The cost to us this year is $10 per sweatshirt.  As always, I have complete trust in your faithfulness and generosity. I invite you to join Cinda and me in “buying” 1 or more sweatshirts in honor of grandchildren or other family members.

Because of you, children, who easily slip through the cracks, are not only warm and comfortable, they are also in a better position to learn. And there is also the joy the staff feels being able to give these kids they love and care about, the sweatshirts that make such a difference.

Our Outreach Continues

All our outreach ministries continue and are needed more now than ever before.

Homeless Outreach Ministry:

Apples, oranges, bananas, fresh broccoli, assorted lunch meats and sliced cheeses, white and wheat bread, assorted canned beans and vegetables, chips, pretzels, assorted cookies and granola bars and 5 cans each of chicken and cream of mushroom soup. Suggestion: In this COVID-19 Pandemic, instead of going to the store why not send your gift to the church in a check.  Mark the check “Homeless” in the memo section or indicate an amount if you are sending it in your regular giving check. We can consolidate the funds and purchase the items on your behalf. It will be much safer that way.

East Coast Head Start Migrant Center

Head Start feeds approximately 61 children, ages newborn to 5 years old, breakfast and lunch while their parents work in the fields.  We have been involved in this ministry for over 2 years and it is very special.  All foods must be non-perishable and include canned, boxed and packaged foods for breakfast and lunch meals.  In addition, children’s toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo etc., for children are very helpful.

Once again, the same suggestion applies here. Just indicate “Migrant Children” on your check.

Your support of any or all three of these outreach ministries will make a big impact on the people who are so often ignored or forgotten. Thank you for your faithful support.
