Outreach is a Valued Commitment
Outreach is a valued commitment of ours. We have an ongoing relationship with Manatee Elementary School providing sweatshirts for every child each December along with school supplies each summer. Other outreach expressions of our church include our thrift store, 10th Avenue Thrift, a growing relationship with the North River Care Pregnancy Center, the East Coast Migrant Head Start Project and assisting the local homeless community with food and clothing. We also reach out through seminars and workshops such as our Surviving the Holidays Grief Recovery workshop offered every November and our Keeping Your Brain Young and Healthy seminars held at various times.
Our Sweatshirt Outreach Ministry is Just Around the Corner!
We are fast approaching the time of year when we make sure every child at Manatee Elementary School has a sweatshirt for the colder winter months. I will be calling the school to get numbers this week. My guess is the number will be like in the past around 450. I will know more specifically after talking with my staff contact person. I will also expect to have a firm cost of sweatshirts from Hanes. Look for these in next week’s edition of Notes and News. I am excited as we prepare for this outreach ministry because I know of your faithful and generous support through the past years.
Palmetto Presbyterian Church with our partnership with Thrivent Financial, thus far has been able to supply Manatee Elementary School with 50 backpacks, 110 boxes of 24 crayons/ box, over 400 pencils, 36 packs of wide-ruled notebook paper, scissors for 25 kindergarten children, glue sticks and hand sanitizer. Thank you to the members/ friends of PPC and thank you to Thrivent Financial for your support. We are making a positive difference!!
